Baku Shipyard has deployed 3D-modelling software at its facilities in Azerbaijan to enhance its vessel construction quality and efficiency
With the support of SSI’s local partner NDAR, it has implemented SSI ShipConstructor to streamline complex workflows and improve its vessel design capabilities. This software optimises its current design and production processes, reducing the cost of vessel design and construction.
SSI said this updated approach will play a critical role in streamlining operations and enhancing the shipyard’s overall efficiency. 3D modelling prevents workflow conflicts between design and construction functions, revolutionising the shipyard’s approach to engineering and shipbuilding.
“Transitioning to an inhouse technical office after a decade using a different system is a challenging yet crucial step,” said Baku Shipyard engineering manager Samir Muradov. “Our adoption of SSI ShipConstructor is fundamental to our shipyard’s future success, ensuring greater control and flexibility in the shipbuilding process.”
SSI and NDAR supported the shipbuilder in its transition to ShipConstructor by providing training and support.
Baku Shipyard is currently constructing an oil tanker, a chemical tanker, a roro passenger vessel and a dredger.
“The adoption of ShipConstructor showcases Baku Shipyard’s dedication to embracing modern technology for enhanced design and production capabilities,” said SSI director of business development David Males.
NDAR founder and general manager Nick Danese said, "ShipConstructor software represents the cutting edge in shipbuilding technology and we are confident it will support Baku Shipyard in achieving its goals.”
