The Greek gas shipping group has installed software on 18 LNG carriers in preparation for SIRE 2.0 inspections
TMS Cardiff Gas is deploying Kaiko Systems’ web-based applications across its fleet of 18 LNG carriers to prepare crew for ship inspection report programme (SIRE) 2.0 inspections and ensure compliance with the new standards.
SIRE inspections provide information that underpins informed vetting decisions on vessels before being chartered by energy companies.
The Oil Companies International Marine Forum (OCIMF) said SIRE 2.0 inspections “focus attention on the importance of improving vessel quality and safety.”
Seafarers must prepare tankers and gas carriers for SIRE inspections, which have become more rigorous and performance-driven with the introduction of 2.0 requirements.
TMS Cardiff Gas deputy chief operating officer Alexandros Politis-Kalenteris said its crews adapted quickly to Kaiko Systems “and embraced it as an important tool for professional development.”
Kaiko Systems is an accessible platform where seafarers can independently review and answer the multiple-choice questionnaires - fostering a culture of collective responsibility and preparedness.
“The intuitive design of the platform, combined with its focus on individual accountability along with the system’s analytical capabilities, provides valuable insights into areas of improvement, enabling targeted training and reducing our risk of inspection deficiencies,” said Mr Politis-Kalenteris
“Ultimately, we see Kaiko Systems as a valuable solution in maintaining our fleet’s high standards and competitiveness in the market.”
TMS Cardiff Gas aims to enhance operational efficiency by streamlining pre-SIRE preparations, reducing the time and resources traditionally spent on manual reviews and training sessions.
