Transas has supplied an inland navigation training simulator the Centre for Maritime and River Shipowners (CAFyM) in Asuncion, Paraguay. The Navi-Trainer Professional 5000 simulator will be used for training crews in tug operations in the Parana-Paraguay waterway. Transas installed the NTPRO version 5.35 software on the system to simulate operations with different types of vessel and barge in the waterway.
The simulator has been configured with four visual channels based on the Transas Seagull 6000 visualisation software. It has a conning module, ecdis and radar with automatic target plotting aids. An additional manoeuvring console is provided with the dedicated hardware to simulate manoeuvring of conventional boats and push boats. The geographic location of Paraguay’s two main rivers – the Paraguay and Parana rivers, and the waterway – mean specific training is required. This has been included in the CAFyM navigation simulator. The installation and contract was through Transas’ distributor in Paraguay, VTG SRL, which will provide further support to the training academy.
