The Port Authority of Trinidad and Tobago has deployed a new reservations system for the ferry operations between the islands of Trinidad and Tobago
A tender was issued by the Port Authority of Trinidad and Tobago for a new system to replace its legacy system. The intent was not just to replace the existing system, but also to enhance the services and ensure a secure and future-proof application to meet the existing demands of the service.
The ferry route operated by the Port Authority connects Port of Spain in Trinidad to Scarborough in Tobago, offering a convenient and efficient mode of transport.
Carus will provide the reservations and ticketing platform, along with a set of self-service applications for travellers in Trinidad and Tobago, including web booking and ticket vending kiosks.
“Carus is excited to work with the Port Authority on this project and to deploy our solution in the beautiful Caribbean,” says Carus director of sales, John Bertell.
The Port Authority of Trinidad and Tobago is the statutory body responsible for the management, operation and development of the ports in Trinidad and Tobago. It oversees the major seaports and maritime infrastructure of the country, facilitating maritime trade, cargo handling and port-related services.
The ferry operation overseen by the Port Authority of Trinidad and Tobago is a crucial component of the country’s transport infrastructure, providing vital links between the two islands of Trinidad and Tobago. This service facilitates the movement of passengers, vehicles and cargo between the islands, serving both domestic travellers and tourists.
Carus said its objective is to “digitally support as many of the traveller and operator touch points as possible, to provide a seamless experience for the traveller throughout the 360 degrees of their journey”.
