The perfect forum to predict the tanker industry's perfect storm

With the stars aligning for a tanker supercycle, the tanker industry convened in April in London to glean essential insights to stay ahead of the curve.

The Int. Chemical & Product Tanker Conference addressed the impact of EU sanctions on Russian crude and petroleum product imports, SIRE 2.0 and the buoyancy of biofuels. Delegates especially appreciated the large and diverse turnout. Today, perhaps more than ever, meeting ambitious business objectives requires collaboration and engagement across the entire supply chain.

The timing of the conference was particularly significant given the European Union’s formal extension of its Emissions Trading System and continued uncertainty over CII regulations. Experts in the room were able to discuss the significance of these developments and the options to help companies comply. 

Global tanker trades were analysed with well received papers on the chemical tanker market and the product tanker sector’s perfect storm. Other papers addressed tanker pooling, vetting strategies and digitalisation and data-driven operations. Dark fleets and ship-to-ship transfers of Russia-origin products were also discussed. 

Extended time for Q&A, the use of Slido audience engagement software and the addition of Lightning Talks for the first time all served to enhance the 2023 conference and feedback has been very complimentary.
