Managed internet provider Wifinity has acquired Hampshire, UK-headquartered Vital WiFi
This acquisition brings technologies developed by both companies to commercial shipping, offshore vessels, energy production platforms and renewable energy facilities.
Wifinity’s connectivity and software platform will be augmented with Vital WiFi’s internet solutions.
Vital WiFi’s wireless proposition enables clients to utilise a dynamic and multi-branded portal which has the flexibility to meet its own and its end-users’ needs.
Real-time surveys and context-sensitive messaging will enable vessel owners and energy companies to engage with users through wifi, providing new insight and revenue opportunities.
“Vital WiFi has built a business that delivers secure, reliable and quality wifi services in what are often challenging working environments,” said Wifinity chief executive Costas Demetriou.
“The acquisition provides a unique opportunity to expand into new, complementary markets, while gaining a raft of new product features and industry expertise to help drive our continued growth in the UK and now offshore.”
Vital WiFi founder Joe Burnell said the transaction brought further expertise and resources and strengthened the proposition to clients. It provides connectivity access points around vessels for crew and passengers and redundancy to avoid downtime. Vital WiFi can monitor and support onboard wifi remotely to fix any ongoing issues that may occur with crew access.
