A London, UK-headquartered shipmanagement company is deploying a telemedicine service to support crew health as it increases its managed fleet in 2026
Atlantas Ship Management (ASM) has partnered with a satellite communications provider to roll out a telemedicine service to improve the health and wellbeing of its seafarers.
This comes as the London, UK-headquartered company plans to grow its managed fleet from more than 40 ships this year, mostly tankers, to over 60 vessels in 2026.
Each vessel under ASM’s management will be equipped with hardware and software to facilitate telemedicine services, while crew will be trained to use them. These ships already have the necessary satellite connectivity to enable efficient telemedical communications.
“The health and wellbeing of our crew will always come first,” said Atlantas Group chief executive Bhuvnesh Dogra. “By introducing telemedicine, we can ensure that our seafarers receive high-quality medical care, no matter where they are in the world. This partnership reflects our long-standing commitment to maintain a safe and healthy environment for our people,” he said.
ASM will work with Navarino to deploy Vikand’s telemedicine digital plus package which provides seafarers with 24/7 access to a global network of healthcare professionals for medical advice, diagnoses and treatment recommendations to be undertaken on ships.
Telemedicine enables crew members to receive remote medical consultations, with real-time video links and the ability to transmit medical data, including vital signs, to onshore specialists, reducing the need for expensive medical diversions.
In addition, Navarino plans to introduce new versions of its Infinity Plus and Infinity Cube onboard communications management devices by the end of this year. It will also launch a new version of its cyber-security service Angel, developed in partnership with Palo Alto Networks, with new response capabilities later this year.
ASM manages fleets of crude, product and chemical tankers and Atlantas Bulk Ship Management has a fleet of bulk carriers under its management.
