Oil and gas producers Equinor and ExxonMobil have contracted a Norwegian engineering company to provide inspection and maintenance services on storage and offloading ships, floating production systems and fixed platforms in Norway and Canada
Aker Solutions has won contracts from two major oil and gas producers to provide maintenance and inspection services off eastern Canada and in Norway.
In Norway, Aker Solutions has gained a four-year contract extension to provide onshore and offshore inspection services on Equinor’s North Sea and Norwegian Sea assets. It will deliver inspections and engineering services across more than 15 operating facilities in Norway, including fixed platforms, pipelines and floating production systems, until 2030 on the Statfjord A, B and C and Oseberg Centre, South, East and Charlie, and Martin Linge platforms in the North Sea and the Mongstad refinery.
In the Norwegian Sea, Aker Solutions will undertake inspections and engineering on the Asgard A floating production storage and offloading vessel, Asgard B production semi-submersible (FPS) and Asgard C storage and offloading tanker. It will also inspect Equinor’s Heidrun A tension-leg platform and Heidrun B storage and offloading vessel, Kristin FPS and Njord A FPS and Njord B storage and offloading ship.
This contract is valued between Nkr500M (US$49M) and Nkr1.5Bn (US$147M). Work will be carried out by Aker Solutions personnel in Stavanger, Bergen and Trondheim.
Aker Solutions has also signed a contract with ExxonMobil Canada to provide maintenance and modification services on the Hebron platform and related infrastructure offshore Newfoundland and Labrador for five years. This is an extension to its original engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) enabling agreement awarded in 2015 by the US oil major.
This work will be led from Aker Solutions’ office in St John’s, Newfoundland, where the Oslo, Norway-listed company has increased its staff from 100 to 350 employees in recent years.
This five-year contract has an estimated value to Aker Solutions of between Nkr1.5Bn (US$147M) and Nkr 2.5Bn (US$245M).
