Havfram has confirmed that a keel-laying ceremony for the company’s first wind turbine installation vessel, Norse Wind, has taken place
The keel-laying took place at Yantai CIMC Raffles Offshore Ltd in Yantai, China.
Havfram ordered the vessel in December 2022, a deal that included options for up to three more units. An option for the second vessel was exercised in April 2023.
The vessels incorporate hybrid drive train technology designed to significantly reduce carbon emissions per installed MW of offshore wind capacity.
The NG20000X vessels will be able to install turbines with a rotor diameter of more than 300 m and XXL monopiles weighing up to 3,000 tonnes, in water depths of up to 70 m.
The crane on the vessels will have lifting capacity of 3,250 tonnes.
