Athens, Greece-based shipowner Laskaridis Shipping Co is set to roll out technology firm ShipIn Systems’ FleetVision platform across its fleet of 90 vessels in the coming months
ShipIn’s visual analytics offering bridges the divide between ship and shore operations by enabling real-time collaboration between shipowners, managers and crew on board to enhance vessel safety and productivity.
Laskaridis will install ShipIn’s fleet of AI-powered CCTV cameras on board to detect discrete events like maintenance, navigation and cargo operations. The platform will automatically alert the Laskaridis team both on board and onshore to any safety or security risks, creating a digital record powered by fleetwide analytics.
“We’re proud to be the very first ship management company in Greece to implement this innovative technology solution,” said Laskaridis Shipping chief operations officer Georgios Christopoulos. “The FleetVision system will become an important part of our digitalisation strategy and will help us better pursue our policy towards operational excellence.”
Laskaridis Shipping will now have access to onboard operational data in near real time.
Boston, US-based ShipIn said its platform enables collaboration between captains and crew on board vessels and operations ashore through a patented communications protocol that minimises required data bandwidth.
“FleetVision is able to detect near-miss incidents in real-time before they bring accidents. This is expected to improve safety performance and awareness,” said Laskaridis Shipping DPA HSQE director Catherine Prifti.
FleetVision provides visibility to low-traffic areas on board, enabling early hazard detection, protection from external damage such as drug smuggling and stevedore damages. With all ship activities rolling up to an analytics dashboard, it makes it easy to benchmark performance, perform remote audits, and improve the operational ROI of the entire fleet.
ShipIn chief executive and co-founder Osher Perry added, “We’re honored to work with Laskaridis Shipping, a prominent owner and manager, and look forward to providing the full benefits of FleetVision across its fleet.”
The company is raising funding and last October clinched US$24M in Series A funding round led by Zeev Ventures with venture capital firm Munich Re Ventures among those participating and backing the FleetVision platform.
The company was also selected to join Lloyd’s Register’s Waypoint Program – an initiative of Safetytech Accelerator that helps grow startups.
