MAN Energy Solutions has launched mýa, a new digital platform that is open to equipment providers, operators and asset owners from the shipping and energy industries
The platform will enable the safe exchange of data between original equipment manufacturers (OEM) across sectors. MAN Energy Solutions head of digital and strategy Per Hansson said there is a “rising need” for data integration between OEMs, operators and asset owners.
“Solution providers, such as MAN and many others, offer digital technologies and services which allow the optimisation of the performance of their systems using real-time data and analytics. But vessel or plant operators work with many OEMs and their respective platforms, and are often faced with a complicated and unco-ordinated view of the various equipment that they operate and maintain.
Mr Hansson said the goal is to “reduce complexity for our customers and for other OEMs and to lower the hurdles for getting payback from data.”
OEMs participating in mýa will be able to access their digital assets via a single interface which integrates OEM data streams and enables a complete system view.
The company said it intends to create an independent, non-profit organisation to govern mýa and promote industry collaboration.
The newly founded GmbH mýa Connection’s chief executive Dr Alan Atkins said “Our goal is to develop mýa into an independent non-profit organisation,” adding “ Once more companies get engaged, the organisation will eventually take direction from its members, OEMs and equipment users alike. The intent behind mýa is to remove friction points and help the industry to operate more efficiently, ultimately saving resources and moving faster towards realising the full potential of digital technologies.”
