This year is shaping up to be a busy one for LPG carrier deliveries
The latest LNG World Shipping infographic reveals the world’s richest owners of LPG tonnage, in a year in which deliveries of these ships are set to peak at 44 vessels, increasing the fleet’s total capacity by 2 million mᶾ.

Leading the pack is BW LPG, whose chief executive Martin Ackermann sets out the company’s plans for counter-cyclical growth in the latest issue of LNG World Shipping. We estimate the value of BW’s 44-vessel fleet at US$2.1Bn, putting the company well ahead of its nearest rival Petredec, which has 33 LPG carriers, worth some US$1.6Bn.
Japan has the largest LPG fleet in terms of ship numbers, with 238 vessels worth a combined US$3.5Bn.
However, Singapore is the largest LPG shipowning nation by fleet value, its 139 ships worth a combined US$4.9Bn. Greece comes third, its fleet of 146 LPG carriers worth some US$2.8Bn.
Data from VesselsValue reveals a live US$24.1Bn fleet of 1,425 vessels and a US$3.9Bn orderbook of 86 vessels. These 1,511 vessels have capacity for 36.2 million mᶾ of LPG.
