NYK Line, CMES LNG Shipping Co Ltd and CETS Investment Management (HK) Co Ltd have launched OPearl, an LNG shipmanagement company in Hong Kong to add to NYK’s LNG shipmanagement companies
This new company, based in Hong Kong, aims to enhance the stability of LNG transport, contributing significantly to global energy supply and carbon emissions reduction. It was officially inaugurated with a ceremony in April 2024, attended by representatives from the founding companies.
NYK’s LNG Group general manager Masami Okubo expressed optimism about the venture, stating, "We are delighted the three companies have jointly established this shipmanagement company, and we look forward to further strengthening our relationship with CMLNG and CETS. Through OPearl, together with our partners, we will contribute to the stable transport of LNG around the world."
CMES president Wang Yongxin highlighted the strategic importance of OPearl, noting, "It marks a new phase of co-operation between CMES, NYK and CETS and represents a significant step forward in the field of LNG."
CETS-CTLNG manager Zhou Yuliang, "Our ships will connect seven seas by providing LNG, and OPearl will play a significant role in LNG shipping with our shareholders’ support."
NYK, one of the world’s leading shipping companies, controls a substantial fleet, including 86 LNG carriers.
The establishment of OPearl represents NYK’s sixth LNG shipmanagement company, complementing its existing operations in Japan, Singapore, the United Kingdom, France and Taiwan.
