A German owner and manager of gas, car and container ships will use artificial intelligence and real-time ship monitoring to improve fleet operations
Reederei F Laeisz (RFL) is set to roll out a suite of artificial intelligence (AI)-driven programs to support operations, analyse fleet data and improve safety management on 23 seagoing vessels.
AI-enabled intelligence will be used by ship masters and senior officers during daily operations and inspections on gas tankers, container ships and car carriers.
RFL will also use AI-driven software in its onshore offices to support technical superintendents and safety managers in analysing vessel information and making better operational decisions.
“AI is on everyone’s lips,” said Reederei F Laeisz managing technical director Harald Schlotfeldt. “It increases process reliability and frees up resources that can be used elsewhere.”
RFL has partnered with Sealenic to use its AI tools to improve operations and compliance, increase efficiency and raise safety on its ships and onshore bases.
"With Sealenic, we have an AI tool that allows fast, targeted and therefore efficient access to all parts of our safety management systems on board ships and on land,” said Mr Schlotfeldt.
“We are excited to see what other tasks and system integrations we can use Sealenic for in the future and in our constant pursuit of improvement.”
Sealenic’s AI tools will continuously synchronise company procedures, analyse real-time vessel data, and ensure seafarers and managers can access the latest regulatory information for every task.
Hamburg-headquartered RFL said crews and shore teams would no longer need to reconcile different systems, external sources and circulars.
Each vessel will receive clear, localised guidance for the task at hand, ensuring workflows remain consistent and the information behind them is always accurate, connected and reliable.
RFL has been a development partner of Sealenic since its founding in 2024, testing early product versions and providing systematic feedback for the further development of the platform.
