Rolls-Royce has announced that it has appointed Mikael Makinen as president of its marine business. He joins from McGregor, where he was president, and before that he held a number of senior positions at Cargotec and Wärtsilä.
Lawrie Haynes, Rolls-Royce president – marine and industrial power systems, said, “Mikael joins us at an exciting time, and I’m delighted he will be leading our marine business into the future.
He brings with him an impressive set of credentials and extensive experience of our industry, both as a customer and a supplier of maritime technology.”
Mr Makinen said, “Rolls-Royce is a world-renowned engineering company, and to be joining such a prestigious brand is inspiring. The marine business has some fantastic technology, an impressive customer base and some very capable people. I’m looking forward to leading this business and delivering the products, innovation and support that our customers need.”
Mr Makinen will lead a business of more than 6,000 people located in 35 countries. Together, they serve more than 4,000 customers in the offshore, merchant and naval sectors, with equipment installed on around 25,000 vessels. OSJ
