A Turkish bulk carrier owner is implementing software across its fleet to lower operational costs and emissions, improve efficiency and manage regulatory compliance
Istanbul-headquartered Statu Shipping is rolling out programs across its fleet of 20 bulk carriers to optimise operations and reduce fuel costs and emissions, to manage compliance, and ensure regulations are adhered to throughout voyages.
A digital suite from OrbitMI is being used by Statu to configure real-time alerts to monitor speed, estimated time of arrival and fuel consumption, enabling early intervention and better voyage decisions.
“With regulatory requirements becoming more complex, we needed a compliance solution that goes beyond simple reporting,” said Statu Shipping managing director Ercüment Ahmet Solakarı.
“Orbit allows us to actively manage compliance and emissions throughout a voyage, ensuring we meet regulatory standards while optimising fleet efficiency.”
In this application, Orbit is integrated with classification society Bureau Veritas’ VeriStar Green platform to streamline emissions report auditing before they are submitted to regulators, reducing its administrative workload and improving accuracy.
Automating this process not only saves time, but also minimises risks of non-compliance, giving Statu confidence in the accuracy of its reporting.
As owners like Statu Shipping invest in digital tools to improve compliance and efficiency, the conversation around operational excellence continues.
