With the industry at an inflection point, the timing of September’s Asia Offshore Support Journal (OSJ) Conference in Singapore could not have been better. The more than 200 offshore vessel owners, operators, builders, OEMs, and charterers and other industry interests gathered to obtain fresh insight into emerging trends, technologies, and strategies to drive the next chapter of offshore development.
Over two days, the diverse sessions explored topics like fleet rejuvenation, crewing dynamics, efficiency gains, hybrid propulsion, battery storage, automated systems, alternative fuels, and more. Standout presentations included market outlooks, vessel designs, condition monitoring platforms, satellite communications and zero-emission concepts. Speakers represented leading companies worldwide, providing a global perspective.
Audience interaction was a conference highlight through lively Q&A sessions and polls. Attendees demonstrated deep interest in the material, with over 200 questions submitted on the conference platform. Key themes included the pace of LEO adoption, training for new systems, infrastructure readiness for alternative fuels, and especially financing challenges.
Several thought-provoking ideas emerged, like the potential of floating nuclear power, combining wind and hydrogen generation, and new propulsor designs that mimic whale tails. The enthusiasm for exploring innovations to drive the offshore segment forward was palpable.
The event also enabled productive networking, sparking conversations between vessel buyers and builders exploring partnerships. Collaborations were forged between technology firms and owners to test new solutions. Delegate feedback reflected that attendees, exhibitors and sponsors found the conference invaluable for gathering intelligence and forging connections to propel their offshore business. Or in other words: an essential industry port of call.
