Almost 200 delegates joined our Offshore Wind Conference 2024 and were buoyed by bullish projections on future growth prospects as well as how to best to green their operations.

Presentations highlighted the crucial role of offshore energy in achieving mandated decarbonisation targets, spotlighting the European Green Deal, REPower EU and national offshore wind plans worldwide targeting over 320 GW by 2050. Speakers also emphasised offshore wind’s essential role amid rising energy independence and security priorities.

The conference flagged that vessel supply shortages are emerging rapidly despite record ordering, installation and cable laying vessel demand could outstrip supply 2-4 times by 2030, bottom fixed foundations are set for exponential deployment, while floating wind requires fundamental step changes across specialist vessels, dynamic cabling, stability controls and integrated infrastructure for commercial adoption at scale by 2030.

Speakers advised progress on operational sustainability could be accelerated by collaborating around disclosure enhancement toolkits, standardising emissions accounting, instituting third party auditing and promoting/rewarding sustainability linked project selection criteria.

In the networking breaks between presentations delegates from across the global industry networked, visited the supporting exhibition and advanced their plans for taking advantage of these outstanding prospects.

Our Offshore Wind Conference returns to London in February 2025. The company will be running offshore energy webinar weeks in September and October and year round coverage of the industry can be viewed here.
