ZF Marine Krimpen’s new Thruster Command system is designed to replace the classic control system.
This complete remote control system controls a single azimuth thruster and provides follow-up steering and propulsion control as well as independent back-up and emergency stop functionality. The system is capable of interfacing with all the equipment that makes up a complete propulsion and steering system.
The control system consists of a thruster control unit (TCU), which is located close to the thruster, and the remote control panel on the bridge. A number of additional remote control panels can be connected inside and on the outside of the vessel.
The advantages of this new system include better interfacing with systems such as dynamic positioning, the joystick system, heading control, the voyage data recorder (VDR), and the alarm and monitoring systems. It also requires less cabling, and offers a high level of redundancy. MP
