Repairing and reconditioning turbochargers and diesel engines (main and auxiliary engines) are two of the main services that Mariso provides.
For repairs, Mariso has two turbocharger service stations: one in Shanghai – a key port in China - and the other in Houston, USA. It plans to expand its market, with more service stations to come. Both turbocharger stations are very experienced in working on ABB, BBC, IHI, MET, B&W, EGT, Napier, SKL, Delaval and Elliot turbochargers. Repair capacity includes turbocharger routine overhauling (ship services, onboard assignments and workshop maintenance), gas outlet casing disassembly, gas inlet casing and nozzle ring disassembly, chemical cleaning of silencers, blasting and cleaning turbine blades, blasting and cleaning nozzle rings, and rotor balancing.
The Mariso repair team in Shanghai also does an excellent job in repairing diesel engines. A fully-equipped professional team provides first-class service. Repair capacity includes cylinder head overhauling, , inlet and outlet exhaust valve disassembling, and the overhaul of the piston and other components.
Any visitor to Mariso’s factory would be impressed by the clean and spacious workshop and advanced reconditioning technology. Reconditioning techniques, welding technology and technicians are all approved by Lloyd’s Register, and reconditioned products have LR certification. In Shanghai, Mariso has a large workshop and warehouse covering more than 20,000m2 and equipped with modern machinery to meet requirements for reconditioning large parts. The whole factory meets ISO 9001:2000 standards.

Providing useful and practical solutions to problems is the aim of Mariso’s repair team. Staff are very devoted to their work, and do their best to solve problems. A recent example occurred on 4 June 2011, in Guangzhou. While the repair team was undertaking routine maintenance for the TC VTR 714 type vessel Cape Stork for Zodiac, they had a problem installing the bearing. If the team had followed the regular procedure, the problem could only have been resolved after a two-day weekend and one day’s Chinese traditional holiday. But the vessel’s schedule was so urgent that it had to leave in three days’ time. The Mariso repair team immediately arranged for two brand new turbocharger bearings, from Shanghai stock, to be delivered in time. Mariso’s two engineers flew with the 80kg bearings from Shanghai to Guangzhou and sent them directly to the ship. Up against high temperatures and a tight schedule, the engineers worked hard over the weekend. Because the parts were delivered quickly, Mariso was able to change the new bearing and solve the problem on time. This is not an isolated example. Mariso’s engineers will always try to find a solution.
