First Italian auction process offers 12 monthly small-scale slots for loading LNG onto bunker carriers from November 2025 to November 2026
OLT Offshore LNG Toscana has published the documentation and timetable for its first auctions to allocate capacity for its Small Scale LNG service, establishing an auction process for bunkering-linked slots in Italy.
The company stated the available capacity and the required documentation are accessible via its commercial pages. The auctions will be held on 29 October 2025.
OLT Offshore will offer 12 small-scale slots of 7,500 m³ of LNG, to be distributed monthly from November 2025 through November 2026.
The small-scale service covers loading LNG from the terminal to small LNG carriers for subsequent ship-to-ship refuelling at sea or delivery to coastal storage facilities in Mediterranean ports.
The company also notes the terminal’s configuration permits receipt of LNG from small LNG carriers for regasification and injection into the grid as complementary slots, to be offered in later auctions once regasification capacity is confirmed on an infra-annual basis.
OLT Offshore LNG Toscana chief executive Giovanni Giorgi said, “With the publication of small-scale capacity and the launch of the first dedicated auctions, OLT is taking a further step in the growth and diversification of the services it offers.”
He added, “This initiative is a first for our country and will boost the development of the LNG supply chain in Italy, which will promote the use of fuels with a lower environmental impact, contributing to the energy transition and decarbonisation of maritime and land transport.”
Riviera’s LNG Shipping & Terminals Conference will be held in London on 21-22 October 2025. Use this link to register your interest and attend the event.
